Latest Updates on Kaley – Friday Night

Nothing like a puppy from daddy to make a girl smile

Well the news we have gotten is NOT what I was hoping to hear.  So far all the tests for viruses have come back negative which makes them believe it will be Ulcerative Colitis.  She has a colonoscopy and endoscopy scheduled for Monday morning at 7:30 am and they should know more after that.

She is still bleeding A LOT when she goes to the bathroom. They gave her a lot of Vitamin K this morning to thicken up her blood hoping that it would help but it doesn’t seem to be making much difference.  And right when I thought she was starting to keep some food down she started throwing up again.  :(

However, the good news is, her blood pressure is finally at a good level and they don’t think she will need a blood transfusion (they were thinking she might need one when her BP was around 80 the other day).

Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.  All your support means more than words can express !!!

  21. Thank you for keeping us updated. While the diagnosis of UC is hard to swallow at first, the good news is there are wonderful medicines and such out there that will get her feeling better soon. I was diagnosed about 7 years ago with Ulcerative Colitis, and it breaks my heart to hear of others battling this disease. If you have any questions, of if Kaley just needs someone to talk to that is in her shoes, please do not hesitate to let me know. It took me a long time to be comfortable speaking to others about my disease, but I honestly believe that it helps to know there are others in the world just like you, and that you are not alone in this disease. I also encourage you to look at this website:

Find a good GI that you like and trust, and together you will find a solution that works for your daughter. Please tell her to keep her spirits up and that it will get better!! Flares are tough, but they do pass. You can live a “normal” life with UC. I said a prayer for her last night, and will continue to do so.

  22. Keeping you and your daughter in my prayers. How can someone so sick look sooooo good? Hope she never looses that smile!

  23. Teddy's mom says:

  33. I became ill with ulcerative colitis when I was 17. Though it took a bit of experimenting, we did find a treatment plan and, 15 years later, I’m chugging along much better. There has been so much more study of the disease in that time so I have nothing but hope and good thoughts for Kaley and your family.

  34. Amy,
Make sure Kaley has been tested for both E. coli 0157 and C. diff. BOth of these bacterial infections can cause bloody diarrhea as well. Praying for a speedy recovery!
