Sunday Night Update on Kaley

I didn’t post an update yesterday because there really wasn’t any new info that we had gotten and her condition was still the same (it was a really low point for her emotionally though and she broke down in tears a couple times which pretty much ripped my heart out.)

This morning she had her endoscopy and colonoscopy and they took a biopsy which we should get the result from soon.  However they said it is really looking like Colitis and they are starting to treat her for that.  She got steroids a couple times today and continued her antibiotics.  They also put in a PICC line so they can feed her since she hasn’t been able to hold anything down for 2 weeks now.   They were really nice and let her friend hold her hand through the whole procedure even.

Having her friend stop by today really lifted her spirits higher than they have been since this whole ordeal has started and her energy level seemed to be up too.  It was nice to see her smiling again !!!

We did a little research on Ulcerative Colitis to see what foods she will need to cut out and sadly its pretty much everything she likes to eat so she is bummed about that.  But we don’t want flare ups so we really need to be careful.

The Drs want to keep her here for a few more days (if not longer) because she is still bleeding quite a bit each time she goes to the bathroom.  We will know more about our estimated departure date by Tuesday or Wednesday.  I am just glad they aren’t trying to kick us out too soon.  I would rather stay here too long than not long enough !!!!

  13. Glad she hax a friend come to see her, hopefully her treatment will work. Tell her she will find new things to like that won’t hurt her body. There is so much food in the world that she is bound to find somethings that are awesome that won’t make her ill!

  14. Still praying for you all. That is an amazing friend to stay and hold Kaley’s hand! We have had to go through many dietary changes with family food allergies and it is hard at first but it gets easier everyday. We also learn quickly that eating what we should not is not worth it. Praying for that too.

  15. Our thoughts and prayers are with you! Keep that chin up for her, you are her BIGGEST SUPPORTER and she needs that!

  17. My best friend was diagnosed in high school and has had it for close to 17 years now. She is still spunky and happy as ever. Medication will work wonders and a change in diet (don’t worry, she’ll get used to it!) will make a huge difference.

I wish her all the best and truly hope for a speedy recovery.

  18. Praying for your family and hoping for a quick recovery :)

  19. I’m with Sharon, sending hugs and prayers:) So glad to here she is going to home soon. Have a blessed day!!!

  20. One thought to help her heal and for all of you commenting on here about GI issues. Raw honey has awesome healing power and we use it for gastric issues at our house. We just use about a half teaspoon whenever we have stomach issues but it would be beneficial several times a day. Raw honey is actually an ingredient in Neosporin and that is why it heals so well. Here is an interesting article about the healing power of honey. http://www.naturalnews.com/021506.html

  21. Good vibes coming your way, hope things are better soon.
