A Short Update on Kaley (revised)

UPDATE: Not very happy right now at all.  They THOUGHT they had it all scheduled for tonight but once the blood transfusion was done, the nurses noticed that the procedure had been moved to tomorrow at 10 am.  Kaley is in so much pain and I am very frustrated that she will have to go one more night in so much pain just because of scheduling issues and transport delays yesterday (long story there).  DEEP BREATHS !!!!

*******************

Sorry for this being so short….

The last I updated you, Kaley had Xrays and an Ultrasound done to try to figure out why she was in so much pain, but nothing was out of the ordinary other than the pancreatitis.  However, her pain was getting worse so they decided to do a CT scan last night.  This morning they came in to tell me she has 2 abscesses (one on her liver and one on her bladder) so they are going to go in while she is under anesthesia and drain them, take samples and figure out what antibiotics they need to give her.  They drew bloodwork earlier this morning and her hemoglobin levels were SUPER low so they needed to give her another blood transfusion first (which is going on right now) and tonight around 9 pm, they will be doing the procedure to drain the fluid.  They said she will have a drain line coming out of her for a few days until all the fluid is gone and HOPEFULLY she will be on her way to getting out of here.  I swear this poor girl has been through SO MUCH over the past 2 months !!!

Please, if you could, keep her in your thoughts and prayers tonight !

Are you sure you don’t want a second opinion?? Not my business, I know, just seems so long and so, so, many complications and set backs.
I pray for you and your strength, and for Kyle. I know you are missing hime so much. I hope and pray you are all back home together real soon.
I really do wish I was close enough to help you in some way: like feed the animals, or bring you starbucks, something to help….but I am 2 hours from you.
    Lots of Love,
    Sissy :)

    • mmmmmm starbucks !!!

Sadly the abscesses are due to the bacteria that spread through her body when her colon was perforated and that is pretty common. I just can’t wait for her to not be in pain. She is super tough but its been almost 2 months of intense pain from one issue or another. :(

  5. prayers coming your way for your daughter and your family. Hope this does it for her and she gets better after this procedure. She has been thru so much at such a young age. Thinking of you guys.

  6. no words …unbelievable that there is another big detour….picture all of your followers gathered with you tonight and there is a big group hug and everyone is sending positive vibes around the room…the air is electrified and there is a soft glow from all of the vibes generated by everyone….the surge of energy is palpable and this will hopefully be the beginning of healing and the end of Kaleys’ pain. With you in spirit and sending prayers and anxious to hear she is finally feeling better. Take care and thanks again for taking the time to update with all that is going on.

  18. O Sweetie – I am so very sad for you and Kaley and all your family – Each night when Johnny and I go to bed we add all of you in our prayers. I have told lots of friends and asked them all to hold you all in their prayers each day as you take this journey. Don’t know if i ever said but Johnny suffers from UC – has for years. Of course each person is different but i feel once some of these set backs are over she will be a Pain Free and Happy teenager. I have sent her little gift and hope by the type it arrives she is able to sing and dance with “Casper the Friendly Ghost”.
We love you and want you to know Our Arms Are Around you Both. G-D Bless —- zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

  28. Dear mom:
My daughter Ana was diagnosed with a large tumor in her head about 18 months ago & believe me when I say I can very well understand your frustration with pain meds, procedures, surgeries, treatment, long hospital stays, etc.. Your last post on the delay of your daughters procedure brought me to tears because as a mom I feel your pain, I know the helplessness, I will pray for your strength and your Kaley’s quick recovery *)

    • Thanks ! I am still waiting for them to come in and tell me whats going on… its frustrating because its almost 9:15 and no one has come in yet at all. If the appointment was set for 10 then transport needs to be getting down here soon (the other day they were running 2 hours behind which I find totally ridiculous). I just want her pain to stop NOW !

  29. msrossdaboss says:

God is awesome….and if you believe in HIM this to shall pass. I also had pancreatitis while pregnant (very difficult).
I was in the hospital for almost three weeks until my husband made me some “slippery elm” herbal tea. All the doctors were against but it didnt hurt to try. About 48 hrs after drinking (4-6 cups). I was up moving about getting back to normal. The doctors could understand it. The 4th day after drinking a total of 12 cups i was signing discharge papers. Just thought I would suggest it. If you decide to try it “slippery elm” is very bitter you may want to mix it with a blueberry or fruity flavor tea to. HTH

  30. Amy Zelda is right your daughter should not have to suffer due to scheduling ….. request to talk to the head of department or something.

  31. I pray for Peace and Grace for you and your daughter, and family during this extremely trying time. I’m sorry you guys are going through such a tuff time.

  32. So sorry things have been so rough for your family

  33. I have been thinking good thoughts for you all since the beginning. I know you keep saying how strong Kaley is, and is she ever, but Mama, you are too! At this point, I’m pretty sure i would be a mess in a corner somewhere. I wish I could wave a magic wand for you guys, and make this all go away. Still pulling for you in PA…

  34. Prayers for her from California :-)

  35. I have not stop praying for all of you, I just wish that everything was over for Kaley and you. I am truly sorry for all your pain. I’m in So Cal and I have many people praying for your family. And sending big hugs and thoughts of better days ahead.

  36. Praying for you, Kayle and Kyle..wishing you the best..

  37. Thoughts and prayers for your family,

  38. Melissa S. says:

I hope that they were able 2 get her down there on time and the procedures done. Have been steadily praying 4 a reprieve from all the pain and total healing. When we r @ our weakest, He is @ His strongest. Let Him carry u both. Waiting 4 an update and hoping 4 good news.

  39. Praying for you all.

  40. Very sad to hear the setback. I had a crazy day today and should have been offering up my frustrations and hurts for you and Kaley. I hope to hear good news soon. This is definitely long-suffering and pray that you will feel God’s consolations in the midst of all the suffering.

  41. Good thoughts and prayers of healing going out to Kaley!

  42. May God be with you during these difficult times. We are praying for Him to remove the pain from your sweet Kaley and heal her! His love will carry you through this situation, o be strong!

  43. My thoughts and prayers are with Kaley and your whole family. You both show strength and perseverance. May God.bless you all.

  44. Deborah Koenig says:

I’m so sorry there is more to deal with. I know this is so hard to go through for Kaley and you and your family. I am going to ask my husband to pray with me for a complete and quick recovery. May the Lord be with you and comfort you.

  45. I will keep you and your daughter and the rest of your family in my prayers. I know how hard it is to be in the hospital with a sick child. My son had two open heart surgeries and being a mother and feeling helpless when your child is in pain is a hard thing to go through. God will help you get through it and he will help your daughter, just trust in him. He will be there in your time of need.

  46. I am so sorry to hear about your daughter. I am a mother so I truly feel your pain. I will keep your daughter and you in my prayers. Be strong and stay positive.

  47. I will continue to pray for you both & hope you will be comforted knowing so many are thinking positive thoughts…

  48. Poor Kaley! If it’s not one thing, it’s another!
Best wishes to your family :)
I know you guys can’t wait until she can get out of the hospital and get back to to “normal” life.

  49. wow, this is just a mother’s worst nightmare! well, I guess it could be worse but still, this has been going on so so long. When she is out and all better, you should go somewhere for a nice family trip and make some positive memories to help erase all these horrible ones.

  50. Did Kaylee have the procedure done today?

    How did everything go??

    • well they said there really wasnt “abscesses” but there was fluid around organs that were irritated/inflmaed. They said her pain must be coming from the surgery but I don’t understand how she could have 2 really good days and not need pain meds and then get to where she is SCREAMING in pain if she isn’t on any. That doesn’t make sense to me at all. So I don’t know :(

They had her take some Xrays again last night and I am waiting for a dr to come in with those results this morning

      • Please do update after you talk to the doctor this morning!
And…..if you are not getting the answers you need; don’t hesitate to take her somewhere else, or get a second opinion with a doctor NOT working in the same practice as her current doctor.
How has her pain been yesterday and today?

        • the pain patch must be kicking in because she got up to go to the bathroom and didn’t come back screaming in pain and begging for more meds. She has a sore throat now (white spots) and they did a strep test that came back negative so they will test for mono now. Poor girl can’t catch a break !

  51. It is interesting/ frustrating hearing about your experiences with Florida Hospital. If at any point you have opportunities to meet with Dr’s from Arnold Palmer, I would highly recommend it. They are fantastic there. I have never had anything but wonderful experiences both there and Winnie Palmer. Because of my fantastic experiences with them, I have had less pleasurable expire cues @ Florida Hospital.

  52. I am definitely praying for your daughter to get better soon so she can stop suffering. She has suffered so much already and you along with her. I cannot imagine anything like this happening to my daughter. God Bless you for being so strong and patient for your daughter. She gets her braveness from you, I don’t think I could be as brave and patient as you. I hope you get her home soon and pain free.

  53. I am praying for Kaley so hard and for you. This is just so hard to go through. It must feel like it never ever ever ends with this poor child. Pancreatitis in and of itself is excruciating (I had it) and then to add the abscesses and surgery and blood transfusions.I hate to sound like a broken record but are you sure that you have the best doctor and the best hospital?Sending love and healing prayers for both of you. Love, Pamela

  54. Hilary Wicklund says:

Also praying for you and your family, Amy. As a mom, I know it’s hard enough to see your child have a cold or the flu, let alone THIS! Stay strong, God IS with you all.

  55. How are things? I hope the pain has abated for Kaley. Continuing to pray for all of you.

    • they put a pain med patch on her and it must be working because she hasn’t complained of pain once today !!!

They let her start eating “liquids” again so at least she isn’t thirsty any more
