Hurst Beans Recipe + $25 Publix Gift Card Giveaway

One thing I love about beans is that there are so many ways you can use them.  What makes Hurst beans so special is that each package provides a yummy recipe on the bag and includes a flavor packet that is all natural (no artificial flavors or preservatives).  Whether you choose to add it to a soup or stew or mix it with rice, with a great low price of $2.99 for 8 full servings, it is a easy way to make a meal that will fill up the whole family without breaking the bank.  You can find Hurst beans in all Publix stores in the dry bean section.

I asked Kevin to create a yummy recipe using Hurst beans and this is what he came up with (he is calling it “White Bean Stew”):

 Ingredients:

  • 1 bag of Hurst white beans
  • 2.5 lb chuck roast
  • 6 carrots
  • Knorr beef homestyle stock (2 tubs)
  • 1 white potato
  • 2 sweet potatoes
  • medium yellow onion
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1/2 tsp Worcestershire
  • salt and pepper to your liking

Soak the beans for 4+ hours in water.  Stew the chopped onions and garlic along with the chuck roast in the Knorr beef stock w/ water for an hour (see instructions on tub for amount of water to use).  Combine the beans and roast and bring to boil.  Lower temp and simmer for a half hour.  Then add all the other ingredients and cook for an additional half hour.

This made enough stew for about 8 -10 servings.

Through October 31st, you can head over to the Hurst Facebook page and submit a photo of your favorite recipe featuring Hurst’s beans and you could win one of (3) $100 grocery gift cards!

Plus one WhoSaidNothingInLifeIsFree reader will win a $25 Publix gift card.

To enter, leave a comment stating what recipe you would like to use Hurst beans in.

For extra entries, follow me on twitter, “Like” me on Facebook or Subscribe to my Daily Emails (I will give you one entry for each method, make sure you leave separate comments for each)

I will end this giveaway on 10/31 at 5 pm EST

Disclosure: I was given several packages of Hurst beans to create the recipe above along with a $25 Publix gift card.  All opinions are 100% mine and not influenced in any way.
