Not Going Home Afterall

This morning I got Kaley up for the hospital halloween party and got her into her costume and she said she was feeling really queasy.  I figured her tummy was just not liking the new pain meds and told her we should still try to go see what the party was like.  We got down to the area where they were having the little “festival” and she said she was in so much pain and didn’t want to stay so we came back to the room.  They gave her some more meds and she went to sleep.  Since the Dr didn’t come see her until 5:30 she had been sleeping all day and hadn’t gotten up to eat or drink so they said they just couldn’t discharge her knowing she is sleeping all day without eating and drinking and experiencing so much pain after switching meds.  When they asked her what she thought about needing to stay, she wouldn’t answer them and kept shrugging her shoulders so they really didn’t have much to go on.  They told her if she can show them that she will eat and drink a lot tonight and tomorrow morning, they will consider letting her go again but for now they didn’t want to rush her out of here just to be able to trick or treat.  Of course that broke her heart and she had a good cry and isn’t in a good mood now but I told her that we will have a big party once we get home and that even if we got to leave today, she wouldn’t be up for trick or treating tonight anyway.  :(

Since, they have decent sushi in the cafeteria (strange right?!) I told her I would go get that for her.  She is eating an Easy Mac cup right now so HOPEFULLY tomorrow will be a better day !

  1. Oh No Amy…you said you were skeptical about posting yesterday and you were right. I am so sorry for you both! Tell Kaley she is looking fab in her costume. I know that at 15 she probably doesn’t want to hear that she has come SO far on this colitis journey thus far and that this is really a tiny, itsy, bitsy bump in the road but after all is said and done she is ALMOST THERE! Maybe the party you throw for her can be a costume party and friends and family can dress up…a VIP Halloween party for Kaley! Wishing you both a restful night, so sorry you are still at the hospital but tom’w is very promising!

    • Thanks…. yes the party is going to be a post-halloween, I’m out of the hospital party. Its just heartbreaking for her after she was so excited last night about getting out and being back home.

Sadly, rationalizing stuff with a heartbroken girl just doesn’t go very far

  2. Amy – my heart broke for you and Kaley when I saw your post, I was so hoping to see a picture of her at home in her own bed with Kyle right next to her. I am thinking about you guys and I really hope tomorrow is a better (pain-free!) day.
