I was challenged to come up with a tasty popcorn ball recipe using Jolly Time popcorn and the Good Cook Popcorn Baller and I decided to make a candy corn popcorn ball to fit in with the fall/Halloween season.
The recipe I used was from Spoonful.com and was really easy.
- Put 12 cups popped popcorn in a mixing bowl large enough to allow for stirring.
- Mix in 1 1/2 cups candy corn. (set aside)
- Mix 3/4 cup brown sugar, 3/4 cup corn syrup, 6 tablespoons butter and 1/2 teaspoon salt in a 2-quart pot.
- Bring to a simmer over medium-high heat, stirring constantly. Stop stirring and let the syrup boil until an inserted candy thermometer reaches 275º.
- Carefully pour the syrup over the popcorn and stir well with a wooden spoon to evenly coat the kernels and candy.
- Spray cooking spray into the Good Cook popcorn baller and pack it full of the popcorn mix.
- Press sides together to make a ball and then remove.
