New and Exclusive Grocery Picks from Whole Foods Market

whole-foods

As part of the Whole Foods Market ambassador program, I am sent a box of goodies several times a year for posting/review purposes.  All opinions are 100% mine and not influenced in any way.

This months box of Whole Foods Market food was a fun one because it had something that appealed to everyone in my family.  Kyle was excited about the popcorn, Kevin was really looking forward to trying the hot sauces, the cats were happy to receive some Deck Hand wet cat food, Kaley tried to claim all the canned tuna and I couldn’t wait to grow the sprouts.

  • Tiny But Mighty Heiloom Popcorn (SRP $3.79) – With kernals about helf the size of kernels in regular popcorn, Tiny But Mighty Popcorn is essentially hull-less (without the shell cooked away during the popping process) making it easier to chew and easier to digest.  **Kyle really loved this popcorn and eat all of it within a couple weeks.  I really wish I had gotten to try some of it but he assured me it was good 😉
  • Pole & Line Caught Tuna (SRP $2.19 to $3.29 depending on variety) – This is the most sustainable canned tuna option on the market and one of the most competitively priced.  The fish in every can is caught one at a time using the pole and line method with a fisherman’s signature on each can which allows shoppers to trace exactly where their can of tuna came from.  They are gluten-free and MSC certified.  **I love knowing they don’t use nets to catch the fish which means less chance of other animals getting harmed in the process.
POLE & LINE IS AVAILABLE IN:
    + Albacore with salt
    + Albacore without salt
    + Albacore in oil
    + Skipjack with salt
    + Skipjack without salt
  • Deck Hand wet cat food (SRP 89¢ per 5 oz can or $1.16 per 3 pack) – Whole Foods is proud to introduce the first MSC-certified cat food with this new line.  It uses cuts from the same MSC-certified and sustainably caught tuna as what is used in the Pole & Line canned tuna products above.  This means none of the premium quality pole & line caught fish is wasted.  It offers grain free options with protein and omega-3 essential fatty acids that will keep your cat healthy and happy. **Not only did my cats love it, but Milo must have loved the smell because he always came running when I opened the can for the cats and would not leave the area while they ate it.  I like knowing it is better for my cats than other brands out there.
  • High Mowing Organic Home Sprouting Seeds (SRP depends on variety) – These are perfect for the urban gardener or even experts with green thumbs.  These seeds are certified organic, non-GMO verified and perfect to grow year round because no soil is required.  They come in 10 varieties including Alfalfa Sprouts, Mung Bean Sprouts, Ancient Eastern Blend Sprouts and more.  You just fill a jar with water, pour the seeds in, screw on the plastic top with holes and watch them grow.  Perfect to add to salads and meals once they are grown.
  • Go Raw Salad Snax (SRP $4.99) – Looking for a healthy salad on the go? Go Raw Salad Snax are a line of sprouts and raw foods which are an organic, ready to eat, on-the-go snack.  Made from dehydrated kale, lettuce, carrots, cabbage and other veggies, they are available in 3 nutrient-rich flavors including 1000 Island, Ranch or Vinaigrette. **I will say these did not appeal to me at all so I did not try them but Kevin did and he said they were pretty good.  He loves veggies unlike me.  I do like that the are non-perishable and great for a people who are health conscious and want a snack to toss in their gym bag, purse or briefcase.
  • Nutiva O’Coconut Bars (SRP 79¢ each) – These are very similar to the Almond Joy bars but they are made with clean ingredients.  They have only 60 calories and available in Classic Lightly Sweetened Coconut or Help & Chia Flavors.  **I love that 1% of the sales go to support responsible agriculture.  Kyle gobbled these down because he is the only one in our family that likes coconut.  He said they were great !
  • Scrumptious Pantry Heirloom Hot Sauce (SRP $5.99 per 5 oz bottle) – These are available in 3 gluten-free, non-GMO varieties including Beaver Dam Pepper, Chitltepin Pepper and American Persimmon.  These are the perfect way to heat up your meals !!!
