Nutty Mocha Rum Cocktail Recipe

Saturday, August 16 is National Rum Day and I was challenged to create a cocktail using Captain Morgan’s White Rum and some of the ingredients they sent me (pictured below) .  I actually had a lot of neat ideas like a Bloody Mary using the Siracha sauce and bacon or a chocolate cherry daiquiri using the Hershey’s bar and Twizzlers but what I ended up with was amazing and I am super happy with how it turned out.


I am calling my drink a Nutty Mocha Rum Cocktail which used the Hershey’s Bar and Pistachios (see ingredients and instructions below).  Seriously this is now going to be one of my favorite cocktails to make.  It is sweet but also slightly salty from the nuts and just so good.

Nutty Mocha Rum Cocktail
  • 1½ oz Captain Morgan's white rum
  • 2 scoops ice cream
  • shot of espresso
  • whipped cream
  • chocolate shavings
  • crushed pistachios
  1. Brew a shot of espresso and allow to cool
  2. Use a cheese grater to create chocolate shavings from a chocolate bar (for topping)
  3. Crush pistachios (for topping)
  4. Add espresso (cooled), rum, ice cream and a cup of ice into blender and blend
  5. Pour into tall glass, top with whipped cream and add chocolate shavings and chopped pistachios
