I am absolutely LOVING my  Silhouette Machine right now and last night I decided to make a FALL banner for my mantle. I just keep finding more and more projects that can be done with this machine !
I received the DCWV burlap stack which comes with 15 sheets of burlap (I only needed one sheet for this project so I have a LOT left over to do more crafts later).
- First, go into the Silhouette online store and download the banner shape (or create your own)Â I downloaded this Set of 6 Banner Shapes
- Cut out the shape you like onto cardstock (this will give you a pattern to cut out of our burlap) I actually cut my pattern out of vinyl and stuck it onto the burlap sheet so that I would have a layer of vinyl under the banner pieces so paint wouldn’t seep through onto my table. when I painted on the letters
- Next, cut out the banner shape four times from your burlap.
- Once that is complete, go into your studio software and type out the letters “F”, “A”, “L” and “L” to create a stencil (I used the Times New Roman font). Make the letters the size to fit inside the banner.
- Have your Slhouette machine cut out the letters from Silhouette Vinyl so you can stick it onto your burlap for painting (see picture below)
- Once you have the vinyl stencil stuck onto your banner pieces, paint in the letters (you may want to do 2 coats)
- After the paint dries, remove the vinyl and you will have your banner looking like the last picture below
Now that you have all your banner pieces completed, you will need to cut slits in the burlap for hanging it. I used a razor blade to make 2 slits into the top of each banner section.
I also created leaves from 3 different colors of cardstock to add onto the banner. I used this set of 4 fall leaves from the online Silhouette store.  Then I just hot glued them onto the ribbon between each burlap banner section.
If I had to do it over again, the only things I would change is that I would make it bigger and lower the placement of the letters. But overall, I just love how this turned out !
