Mop and bucket in hand, it’s time to freshen up your home!  Spring is a great time to give your house a good cleaning.  This will not only cause your home to smell fresh and inviting but will also get rid of all those pesky insects invading your home and prevent allergens.  Some tips are to follow to help you get rid of the closeness of winter and invite spring into your home.
1) Get out the dust cloth:
Get ready to freshen up your home! Dusting all surfaces is so rewarding and an important part of the cleaning process. Â Not only will it make your house look and smell better, but it will also reduce the number of allergens in your home and get rid of the dust and dirt that gathered during winter. Â Start by using a damp cloth to wipe down hard surfaces like countertops, tables, and chairs; Â this will help reduce the number of airborne dust particles when you start to lightly dust all surfaces.
Finish off by using a feather duster, microfiber cloths or a vacuum with an upholstery attachment to pick up any remaining dust and dirt from curtains, carpets, furniture, shelves, etc.  Don’t forget those hard-to-reach places like ceiling fans or light fixtures – these can be major sources of allergens if not cleaned regularly. This may also be a good time to get an exterminator just to make sure there are no uninvited pests crawling around in your home.
2) Clean out the closets:
Time to weed out the winter wardrobe and make room for a fresh summer wardrobe! Start by sorting through all the clothes you have in your closets; anything that does not fit or is no longer worn should be donated. Get rid of any items that are stained, ripped, or have holes in them. This will make your closets look neater and more organised.
Once you’ve cleared out all unwanted clothes, take this time to vacuum out the closet with an upholstery attachment if needed. Doing so will help remove allergens like dust mites and pet dander, keeping your home allergy-free. Now that everything is nicely put away and organised, it’s time to move on to the next task.
3) Wash windows and mirrors:
Nothing can bring a room to life like freshly washed windows and seeing the outdoors through clean and clear windows. This will not only bring a  sparkle but also help reduce the number of allergens in your home. Use a damp cloth with some glass cleaner or soap and water, scrubbing each window until all dirt is removed. Then use a squeegee for a streak-free finish. Don’t forget about those hard-to-reach places; get yourself an extension handle from your local hardware store if needed.
Don’t forget about all mirrors too! Wipe them down with an old t-shirt, newspaper or paper towels to avoid scratches. Wash both sides of the mirror and use a dry cloth to remove any remaining streaks or watermarks.
Spring cleaning is a great way to freshen up your home and reduce allergens. Â By dusting all surfaces, getting rid of the winter wardrobe, vacuuming out closets and washing windows and mirrors, you can make your house look clean, inviting and free from unwanted pests. Â Keep in mind that these tasks may require some extra effort, but the rewards are worth it! You’ll be left with a neat, organised home that smells fresh and looks beautiful. So grab those mops, buckets and clothes – it’s time to get started on making your house shine!
