It Worked !!!

Awhile back I did my first “Free after Rewards” deal through Office Max “Max Perks” program.  I bought a Kodak printer for $129.99 and got $129.99 in rewards.  Today, I finally stopped into the store and used the rewards to buy a $60 Darden gift card and an office chair that I needed.  My subtotal came to $0 and I just paid tax.

From now on I will be more likely to do the free after reward deals since I was able to use the rewards to get gift cards (they had tons of stores and restaurants to choose from).

  1. I did this too! It was a big pain. It took me being turned down at one store by the Store Manager, going home and talking to MaxPerks Customer Service and having her call that manager back to explain the program to them and then driving back to the store. The cashier, the second time around, was quick to tell me that I couldn’t purchase a gift card with my rewards, so I had her call the Manager that had spoken to customer service earlier to get approval. She wasn’t very nice about it! Big pain, but yes, free!

  2. I had no idea you could use them for gift cards. I’ve been reluctant to do any of these because I didn’t think I’d actually use the rewards for anything.

Now that I know I can (and that I’m prepared to argue with them if they try to give me a difficult time like poor Amanda up there), I’m much more likely to do it.
