As a single mom of 2 teenagers, I have to find creative ways to save when it comes to back to school shopping. One way I save big is by shopping at Goodwill Industries of Central Florida for my kids’ clothes. Goodwill has all sorts of school-related products that children may need such as backpacks to jackets and shoes. Plus shopping at Goodwill will not only allow kids to define their back-to-school style on a budget, but will help Central Floridians that have barriers to employment find meaningful work.
I always find great items at great prices. Plus I try to find clothes with the color tag of the week, because that saves you 50% off the regular price. I was able to get Kyle a pair of “like new” Tony Hawk jeans, 3 pairs of gym shorts (one being Nike) and 2 shirts (one being Puma) for just over $25.
If I had had a younger son, I would have quickly grabbed up this Tommy Hilfiger shirt priced at only $3.49.
Here is a breakdown of some of the prices for clothes at the Goodwill store by my house (off Lake Underhill near Alafaya Trail):
- Children 3T and under (all items) $1.49
- Children 4T and up (all items) $3.49
- Ladies Shorts $2.69
- Men’s Shorts $2.69
- Men’s Tshirts $1.69
I went yesterday to my local Goodwill and found some good stuff. For my daughter I found gently loved Sperry loafers for $2.99 and a Arizona Hoodie $1. For my son i got an Old Navy Polo $1. For my self i got a Vera wang long sleeve top and a 89th & Madison for $2 each! My deal of the day was definitly the Sperry’s!
